Frequently Asked Questions

ChatRx is an independent virtual care service that has partnered with Williams Brothers Health Care Pharmacy to make affordable, doctor-reviewed care available to their customers. Williams Brothers is your trusted local pharmacy. ChatRx is the licensed medical provider handling the symptom check, doctor review, and prescription. Both companies are independent. You are never required to fill your prescription at Williams Brothers, though many customers do because it’s convenient.

ChatRx is available at participating Williams Brothers Health Care Pharmacy locations in Washington, Bloomington, Princeton, Vincennes, Loogootee, Paoli, and Austin, Indiana, as well as in Olney, Illinois. You can start a symptom check from any device: at home, at work, or right at the pharmacy counter. If you have a prescription, you can have it sent to any pharmacy you choose, including any Williams Brothers location.

ChatRx treats 39 common acute conditions, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), sinus infections, strep throat, pink eye, ear infections, bronchitis, flu, tooth infections, BV, yeast infections, shingles, and cold sores. We do not treat chronic conditions, controlled substances, or anything requiring a physical exam. If your case is outside what we can safely treat online, we will tell you up front and recommend the next step, at no charge

A ChatRx visit costs a flat $25, charged only if a licensed physician determines a prescription is medically appropriate. If we cannot help you, for example if your symptoms require in-person care or are outside what we treat, there is no charge. The $25 covers the symptom check, the physician review, the prescription itself (sent to your pharmacy of choice), and a work or school note when applicable. No insurance is needed. There are no copays or surprise bills.

Every ChatRx case is reviewed by a licensed physician. Cases are reviewed by Dr. Tod Stillson, MD, a family medicine doctor with 30+ years of experience in rural medicine, or another licensed physician from the ChatRx Medical Group. AI is used to help collect your symptoms and history efficiently, but no medical decision, prescription, or treatment plan is made by AI. A human doctor reviews and signs off on every case.

ChatRx is $25 flat. No insurance is required. We don’t bill insurance, which means no surprise bills, no copay confusion, and no claims to file. ChatRx is FSA/HSA eligible.

You don’t pay. If your condition requires in-person care or is outside the 39 conditions we treat, we’ll let you know, and you won’t be charged.
